As long as its the owners only who pay his salary, I expect Bud to be around for A LONG LONG time. Players should negotiate the right to have a say in picking the commissioner and in paying for his salary.

Theo would make a great commish. So would Frank Robinson. So would practically anyone that is not an owner or is not a former used car salesman.

To start with, even though Bud isn'ttechnically an...

To start with, even though Bud isn't
technically an owner now, no owner
should be allowed to be a commissioner. However, there are a couple of errors in your post that clearly need addressing.

1. The Red Sox were one of the dominant teams in the AL during the first 2 decades of the 20th Century. They went a long time between WS titles (1918-2004), so Theo didn't bring the Beantowners their first WS ever.

2. Regarding the All-Star Game debacle, what would have had Bad Hair Bud do? He didn't have any choices left to him by the managers who used every pitcher because of the prevailing feeling that 'everyone should play in the All-Star Game.' You want to go after BHB for stupidity? Fine. I'm all for that. I've written about it myself. Just make sure that what you're slapping him stupid for is correct.

Things that Bud has inflicted on The Game that deserve our scorn is the notion that having the All-Star Game 'count,' for example. What a truly stupid idea and counter-intuitive to logic.

Best of luck on your new blog. I'll be following with interest.
